Your New Life Awaits

Let’s face it.  Your breakup is a big transition. While you aren’t who you used to be, you’re not who you will become yet either.  You are caught in the middle—somewhere between uncertainty, potential, doubt, and hope.  But trust that your new life does await. After a breakup, you are different.  Even though you are filled with chaos, shock, and turmoil, you can choose to see your breakup as a window of opportunity.  Look through the window.  The window shows you who you will become.  It is a metaphor for the desires, wishes, and urges that come to you.  I urge you to listen carefully to these soul callings, because this window is open now.  The good and bad news… more »

Cultivate Awareness for an Extraordinary Life

Cultivating awareness in every day life will lead us to more peace as we grow the awareness muscle.  When we still ourselves and cultivate a quality of inner and outer ‘listening’, we create wisdom and faith.  In our striving and struggling, we forget that there is a bigger plan for us.  For me, I’ve been sleeping horribly. I felt more healthy 2 weeks ago then EVER before. Now, 2 weeks later, I feel like poop because my adrenaline is flowing for no apparent reason. My doctor says, “that’s why we call it the ART of medicine.” Life is not science. Science is not art. Sprituality is not science.   And what do Life, Spirituality, and Art all have in common?… more »

Shut Up or Speak Up? Using Your Inside Voice

When I was a young professional in my 20’s, I never stood up for myself when a boss would have a sly comment, or someone would throw me under the proverbial ‘bus’. And at home, with my boyfriend, I would get mouthy and use my voice as a weapon to protect myself from judgment and pain. I couldn’t calibrate when to speak and when to allow silence to speak for me. It’s been called to my attention that we tend to be a neurotic society. Our egos have been on high power for many decades more and more as the industrial age reminds us what we need to buy each half-second of each waking and sleeping hour.   There is great danger here for us, because love doesn’t exist in the pushing, and the forcing, and the reacting. No good comes when we aren’t being truly aligned with what we believe. When we act mindlessly or just do what we think we’re supposed to, we can’t take actions that make us happy or inspire us.   So let’s stop the frequency and make a decision to be hungry for authentic action…. more »

I Hate the Holidays

I’m a Creature of Habit. I like certainty and I like routine. And I hate the holidays for this reason. And I love my daughter.  She’s out of school for 2 weeks and we’ve both had about enough of each other. I’ve fed her breakfast, but she’s hungry. And since I’ve written this first paragraph, she’s said, “mom?” 4 times already. I don’t have 24 hours a day to give to her. My mother is 2 weeks out of complete knee replacement here in Boulder and I’m her caretaker. My husband really does his share, but I feel so fucking pulled in every direction right now. And I want some routine!! And it’s zero degrees outside, so running through the… more »
